“I just want to do something!”

This is such a common expression and this week millions of people are looking at world events and saying this.

Yet standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine safe in a European capital does not seem enough for so many. Can the issues of countries really be resolved by individual action? Surprisingly YES!.

Want can I do?

First, find out what is really happening to this world! We can only do something with real meaning if we understand the real issues and solutions.

The media is driven by those with opinions, those who want to justify their approach to the problem and the resolution.

Is the answer to take up arms and fight in the name of freedom? That has always been a futile gesture because we have the continuous cycle of poor decision-making by governments driven by greed, or fear.

So is it an excuse to do nothing? Because while good people or the majority do nothing bad things happen!

Advocacy for something Different

The Bible points to God’s Kingdom as the solution for us all, no artificial lines on the ground or walls and fences, nothing to separate individuals ideologically, culturally or spiritually. Why? because the battle is not ours to fight. It is with God’s forces against human governments.

Does God have the right to impose his will on us? Well for 2000 years Christians have prayed Let your kingdom come let your will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven.

The bible describes one war in heaven, it was short and decisive (Revelation 12) God’s enemy – someone who chose to oppose God’s leadership was ousted from heaven, soon the decisive battle on earth will be fought, the governments have already begun to line up against God’s Kingdom and soon they will take a stand in opposition to his King.

The End Game

The art of Chess is to understand what you really control and where the weaknesses of your opponent are exposed. Satan, the governments of the world are involved in playing the next move not realising the match is already lost.

So the Bible has predicted the next moves in this complex period, the power play by Satan and his forces failed to see that the defence he attacks is not weak but strong, it conceals the greatest offence in Universal history.

It is time to open your eyes as the spectator and realise that our only option is to wait for the End Game, it will come very quickly, like playing against my father when he would say 3 move checkmate and it was too late for me to adjust.

Look for the End Game, understand there are sides to choose and decide that you are going to back the winner.

An End to All Suffering – Just Why Is Peace so Elusive?

All over the World we see the rise of suffering, affecting everyone in one way or another. This is often brought about by Government Leaders with “Good Intentions” and others who express Imperial dreams. They believe that this will result in freedom and peace because things are done their way, they will save their people who are oppressed.

The real impact is warfare and shortages that escalate the suffering, that lead to massive numbers of those losing their lives and those remaining survive is extreme conditions.

So why do all of these “good intentions” always fail, and why can’t humanity establish “true peace”?

Look to God’s Answer

The Bible gives us many reasons for this sad state of affairs, note the words at Jeremiah 10: 23 “I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”

We were not designed or intended to rule over another person, Jehovah God gave neither the need nor the right.

Acts 10: 34 “At this Peter began to speak, and he said: “Now I truly understand that God is not partial,35 but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.36 He sent out the word to the sons of Israel to declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ—this one is Lord of all.” He created us Equal!

These Human leaders with the best motives of improving the lives of the people they lead “pass on” and their plans come to an end. So what they start they are unlikely to finish, others will replace them.

In 2 Timothy 3: 1 “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away”.

Note the key points:

• Critical times hard to deal with
• Fierce, headstrong, puffed up with pride
• without love of Goodness
• not open to agreement

All of these indicate that we are living the time that Jesus described as the “last days” or “End Times”. Not of humanity but of Human rulership.

The only solution and hope for lasting peace on earth identified in God’s Word as God’s Kingdom that removes all human governments who oppose his rulership. It will bring peace to the earth, it will eliminate all human suffering and those living there will Psalm 37: 10 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. 11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

What is happening in Ukraine and the fear of Government Leaders does mean ordinary people die because no one knows what any response will generate. Remember at the time God’s King intervenes we know that there will be no one doing any harm or causing any suffering because we have a righteous ruler in Jesus Christ.

An End of Suffering!

At this time of year many around the world are thinking about the birth of Jesus – they believe he was born as a child to be the saviour of the world.

How can this be? And, how can Jesus life and death bring an end of suffering to humankind?

The Bible explains in Romans chapter 5: 12 that through “That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin,+ and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned.”

This was when Adam rebelled against God’s rulership. Lovingly, to help or redeem humankind from sin and death God sent his son to earth as another perfect human, just like Adam, he gave his life as a sacrifice so that all can have life by cancelling out sin and death.

To benefit, we need to accept this sacrifice for John chapter 3: 16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son,+ so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.”

Very soon, as the king of God’s Heavenly Kingdom, the resurrected Jesus will bring an end to all suffering on earth and restore to us what Adam lost, perfect life in an earthly paradise.

The end of all suffering

The Bible promises that the end of all suffering will come through Gods Heavenly Kingdom – or Government. It will remove sorrow, sickness and death from humankind this is stated clearly at Revelation 21: 4; “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

• When will this happen?
• How much longer must we wait?

When on earth Jesus explained when the Kingdom was coming, and how we would know. He presented a list of signs we need to identify as we approach a period the bible calls “the last days”

The “sign” is detailed in Matthew 24: 7, begins with War on a large scale (in one place after another). There have always been wars reported in history, so this series of wars has to be different to everything that has gone before. In 1914 the whole world was described as joining the “Great War” (the war to end all wars)! Sadly once WW1 finished humanity careered towards WW2 and another Global Conflict, the 20th century was literally a period of one conflict after another. The 21st Century has continued along the same theme.

What next in “the sign”? Food shortages and famine, on a scale never before reported or understood. Almost 1 billion people are affected by famine and malnutrition across the globe.

The Beginning of the pangs of distress

Matthew 24: 8 uses that phrase in describing the sign – the beginning of pangs. Those first two signs are the prelude or introduction to the Kingdom. There are more signs that will mark the last days for an in depth review of the Sign of the Last Days
