“Hallowed be Thy Name”

Christian daily rote prayer, yet do they know what the statement means? For example “Hallowed” the meaning Jesus put on this was straightforward – “be made holy; consecrated”.

Holiness is a concept in religion that has been blurred, bible commentators refer to holiness as clean, pure, undefiled therefore, the idea that we prayer to God that his name is spoken without reproach, and with deep reverence is lost.

Where does God’s Name Appear? Bible scholars accept that it appears more than 6000 times but in the Authorize Version it has been reduced to 4

  • Exo_6:3  And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
  • Psa_83:18  That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
  • Isa_12:2  Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
  • Isa_26:4  Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Jesus focused on the God he knew, he understood, when in the temple he called it his father’s house so Jesus referenced the name Jehovah!

The Meaning

How corrupted this has become, with the religious scholars of the today and Christian History removing the name, replacing it with loose references to a God, or supplanting Jesus, the trinity or nature for the creator.

Jehovah, Yahweh, YHWH, and the many other languages all convey the same primary meaning for the name, “he causes to become” and “I will prove to be what I will prove to be”.

Understanding the name leads us to look at what Jehovah purposes. Here is a short list:

  • The end of earthly political structures;
  • The end of sin and death;
  • Restoration of paradise;
  • Justice for all;
  • Removal of the wicked;
  • Restoration of perfection;

Too much to ask? Christian leaders point to governments, international institutions and crazy links between international bodies.

Why don’t they point to God’s Kingdom as the only solution? Because they fail to show reverence to Jehovah God. They lack the faith that God’s Kingdom will achieve these things.

Sadly sucked in by the “educated, intellectual and secular thinkers” who have learned to question everything and answer nothing with anything more concrete than “I think” or “look at history”. individuals have rejected the bible, failed to read it and more cynically focused on self.

Working with the “there is no God premise”

The idea that it is modern to think there is no God is false, 2500 years ago the bible states clearly that “the foolish one has said in his heart there is no God!” The Greeks lived by a range of philosophical constructs which promoted pleasure because there is no hope. “Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we shall die”.

Life is easier when there is no hope and you haven’t much of an idea of what you are doing. Blundering from one misjudgement to another, but without accountability.

So when we pray “Hallowed be Thy Name” it requires that we understand 2 things:

  • Gods Name
  • Gods Purpose

Then the choice is ours – say the prayer with all the mean and then find out how that name is sanctified because it has a direct impact on our long term hope and the way we live our life today.

Jesus words at John 17: 3 “And this is life eternal, that they should know thee the only true God, and him whom thou didst send, even Jesus Christ.” indicate we start with God’s name and begin our journey to life eternal.

Is it possible to Enjoy Life Forever? The new bible study course uses clear reasoning to ensure we engage with creator and have a clear understanding of how his name is clean, pure, holy and what we can do to contribute to this.

The “label” Christian is a badge worn by billions but those real Christians number in the millions that explains why we need to get this right before God’s Kingdom takes direct action.

Where Can We Find Real Hope?

All of us need hope!

Wherever we live we’re all going through a time of unprecedented problems, heightened by a worldwide pandemic. So where can we find real hope?

What is Real Hope?

Hope is not just optimism based on wishful thinking. It is based on reason and evidence. The bible says that God wants to “give us a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29: 11.

But how does it do this?

Firstly, it offers help to improve our lives now. By applying its principles, counsel and witnessing the improvement we can build our confidence in the Bibles promises! It contains many examples of practical wisdom and advice that benefits individuals. For example follow this link to look at how the bible changes lives and how this benefited the individual and those around them.

Secondly, based on the personal evidence we have the fulfilled promises of the Bible Record.

So What Real Hope does the Bible offer?

The promise that we can relate to is the bright, happy and just future for the whole human family and the cleansing of the earth.

It’s not pie in the sky because the Bible recognises the state of the world we live in before it records the promises of something much better. For example 2 Timothy 3: 1-5 describes the attitude and characteristics of humanity in a critical time period before the promise of a bright future.

The contrast of the Human Society separated from God is woeful and challenging when we look at the outcome advocates of God’s Kingdom expect to see. The Bibles promise is that at the end of the critical times God’s Kingdom will eliminate all forms of human suffering, disease, hunger and their consequence death!

The fulfilment of Bible Prophesy today gives us confidence and builds the trust we need for faith, faith in the real hope, Hebrews 6: 19 “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, both sure and firm,…”

To review more compelling evidence of the assurance we have that this is a real hope, built on faith and personal understanding of Gods purposes begin the new Bible Study Lessons in the publication entitled “Enjoy Life Forever

The Bibles Wonderful Promise for our Dead Loved Ones!

One thing sadly is common to us all is the pain of losing our loved ones in death. There are many causes, old, illness, accident, acts of violence and disaster. In the present time so many of all ages and at a surprising speed have lost their lives in the Coronavirus pandemic, always leaving an immense void in the surviving family and community.

Many ask:

Will we ever see our loved ones again? Perhaps in heaven as many are taught?

What the Bible Teaches

The Bible teaches a different hope, looking directly at the benefits of God’s Kingdom it clearly states that individuals are to be reunited with their loved ones here on Earth. In peaceful conditions where righteousness and perfect health are normal.

Why can you believe this? When on Earth Jesus is recorded as raising the dead, and he made the promise in John 5: 28,29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” (NWT)

Just before his death Jesus raised his friend Lazarus (the account is in John 11: 38 – 43). The account demonstrates that Jesus reflects his fathers desire to restore life to those who have died. Note the beautiful words from Job 14: 14-15If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. 15 You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.”

God – Jehovah – will call and the dead will rise. This yearning demotes Jehovah’s earnest desire and longing to resurrect dead humans.

Jehovah God promises this is to be fulfilled by means of his Heavenly Kingdom Government, bringing rich blessings to the human family here on earth. Life will be exactly as it was meant to be, everlasting, in paradise without sickness, injustice, pain of losing loved ones in death and you have the opportunity to find out more about the bible promises please follow the Link to JW.org

Know God

I have chatted to thousands of Christians from around the world and of many denominations, all have a positive view of their personal relationship with God.

Yet! God has many names to them, different forms – a trinity, an individual, a force, the essence of life. How is it that one faith group can have so many conflicting ideas ideas about God?

When the religious views were formed following one person, how is it possible for the difference to be so stark? The Great Apostasy set in and Christianity change.

What did the First Christian say?

John 17: 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”. (KJV)

John 17: 6 “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.” (KJV)

To know God we need to know his Name a great place to start. Jesus lived amongst the Jewish Nation, went to the Temple dedicate to the worship of their God. He took decisive action to protect that place of worship. Speaking of the temple as the place of his father’s worship.

So what name did the Jews KNOW God by? Ps 83: 18 “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth”. In Hebrew (there are no vowels in the written script the Tetragrammaton) appears in English as YHWH, widely accepted as Jehovah, Yahweh and variants.

Essentially to know God we must know his name. A great place to start, now if you “know” someone’s name and address them directly is it appropriate to use the name in conversation, so did Jehovah identify himself by name in the Bible? Yes more than 7,000 times. So why do so many Modern Translations leave the fundamental point about how God addresses himself to the listeners.

Simply Christianity has been hi-jacked by a fraud, this successful deception prevents billions from Knowing their God – that is the first step to salvation. So we are left with a problem to survive with God’s blessing we need to know God, but our access to him is limited by our current understanding.

Where Did Jesus Start?

At the age of 12 in the temple he questioned the teachers about the Law, prophets and prophesy, he knew God’s word.

That is where we begin – Read the Bible every day. But don’t just read it try this model:

  • Approach God in Prayer first, ask for his support,
  • Read a passage of scripture – carefully, reflecting on what the principle is directing,
  • Visualise, so if reading about a character then think about their life, where they lived, what life would be like back then.
  • Think deeply about it
  • Apply the principle we learn

Historical Issues

Modern Life and Society is plagued by looking back. As society makes progress revenge and vengeance are demanded from a new generation for the crimes of the past.

This has always intrigued me. Why so attached to a past that can’t be changed when futures are built in the present?

Does anyone get everything right?

The exploitation of the poor is a fact- it is interesting when Israel decided they wanted a King the Bible clearly says what the impact will be 1 Samuel 8: 10 – 18; as soon as a ruler is appointed to lead the people by definition they have to follow.

Also we know there is a principle that clearly enlightens us on the impact Ecclesiastes 8: 9 “All of this I have seen, and I applied my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, during the time that man has dominated man to his harm.”

So why are we surprised that as power fluctuates exploitation and greed afflict all of society. For example what is Social Justice? Surely, it must be a demand to balance opportunities for the living? No it is a demand for advantage due to the errors of previous generations. “Strip you of privilege and give it to me, I must set the standards now!”

The religions of the world – are they at fault?

YES! The interesting feature of biblical slavery was that a slave served for a period unless they were spoils of war then it was for life or as long as the Israelite wanted. Did God approve of slavery? Polygamous marriage? Exploitation of women and children? The use of work houses or prisons that offered no opportunity for release? To answer those questions we need to look at the bible record.

Modern Christianity isn’t about the Gospel or Christian values – it lacks the veracity of bible truth and fails to teach the basic truth. So the Church has to be held accountable. But who is accountable for the sins of the past?

Child Abuse in Churches is a historical nightmare and it should never have happened, just the abuse of position and power by the parish priest. However, historical abuse can’t be handled retrospectively, those who commit these offences are rightly exposed, brought to justice if they are still alive but the media are set on portraying every priest, every male church goer or Christian with responsibility as the potential perpetrator.

Religion must get it’s house in order, must present itself clean and undefiled and once errors are known allow the legal system to handle the matter. For example church elders are not empowered to investigate allegations of abuse and only recently did it become a legal responsibility to report an allegation. So to apply the principle that allegations must be reported to historical incidents is unfair and unkind.

Remember the Media has protected child abusers and fed the obsession, allowed young women to be used as sexual fodder for celebrities, the same lack of action can be laid at the gates of educators, police, social workers… etc.

Society got things wrong!

Putting all things Right

Left to you and I we can never right the wrongs of the past, present or potential damage of decisions we make today on the future.

However let’s return to the Bible – we pray for Gods Kingdom as Christians, is that just more of the same? Not at all note Revelation 11: 18 “But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.””

So a clean place.

How about government? 2 Peter 3: 13 “But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.” New Heaven – new rulership and who benefit? The righteous will live there.

Righteous people under a righteous government.

Jesus told us that we would benefit from this Gospel message for eternity John 17: 3 “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.”

So when looking for justice work with the only Government that can rectify the situation currently and historically – Gods Kingdom with the raised Jesus Christ as King. He is the valiant warrior king who stands for Justice, Equality, Truth and Life.

Read and get to Know the Bible Truth it sets us free.

God Is Love 1 John 4: 8

Is God’s Love unconditional? Many Christians believe that the Apostle Pauls words to the Corinthian Congregation mean all things are acceptable to God, he will love everyone no matter what they do and say. Can that be true?

As a parent I know that lines are drawn in the family to emphasise – not power but order, the order required to live harmoniously. By setting those standards we aren’t saying that we don’t love our children but what we are saying focuses on what is required to keep the family safe and together.

1 Corinthians 9: 19 – 23 “I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

It is a great scriptural comfort that to gain the Christ Christians will reach out to to all people to introduce them the means of salvation and rejoin God’s people.

But why do they need to do that if everyone is acceptable to God, and they can do whatever they like so long as they believe that God is their personal salvation. It makes a nonsense of the Christian way of life. Later in that Chapter Paul describes that we may become disapproved.

Unconditional? Not when it comes to salvation. There are clear criteria.

So How is God’s Love Unconditional?

Simple Paul explains: Acts 17: 26 – 28 “And he made out of one man every nation of men to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he decreed the appointed times and the set limits of where men would dwell,27 so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us.28 For by him we have life and move and exist, even as some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his children.’”

Verse 28 explains he gave us life but verse 27 let’s us know that we need to grope for him.

Jesus gave his life because we are separated from the love of God by our sins, collectively and personally. So just as Adam and Eve were condemned by their course of action if we continue to live by our own rules how can we be acceptable to God?

To Love God acceptably requires Ecclesiastes 12: 13, 14 “The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole obligation of man.14 For the true God will judge every deed, including every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.”

To say we love God we must accept some specific restrictions – 1 John 5: 3 “For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome,”

Some of the unacceptable things

Let’s start with the one most quoted:

1 Corinthians 6: 9, 10 “Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Do not be misled. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality,10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God’s Kingdom.”

How many of the Christians you know lead lives like that. Rightly labelled hypocrites – but we all fall short of Gods standards in some way everyday.

But now notice the expression of love in verse 11 “And yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean; you have been sanctified; you have been declared righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.”

Conclusion – Christians have an obligation to explain what the Love of God means, clearly state that the unconditional love is expressed in sustaining our lives now but to remain in harmony with God forever we must Keep His Commandments!

The Apostle Paul stated that in the last days of this human rulership it would be hard to be a Christian, he wasn’t referring to persecution he refers to the conduct of people including so-called Christians 2 Timothy 3: 1 – 5 “lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away”.

Christians live for Gods Kingdom, keep God’s commandments and share the Gospel globally one organisation stands out as different, people make mistakes and understandings change but the fundamental truth remains the same. Contact them to find out how to Enjoy Life Forever.

Why we need God’s Kingdom!

Let’s put it starkly, anyone looking at the triumphs of science with the COVID19 vaccine and the idea’s on ending the environmental issues of the planet can’t get passed the issues of the human family.

We have to put up with corrupt rulers, governments that cause the issues and problems – do you feel guilty about the emissions from your motor vehicle, remember that they contribute a fraction of the green house gases power plants, military installations, war planes and the development of infrastructure sponsored by governments and business.

If humans wanted to solve the issues of climate we saw what 3 months of no international travel achieved, limiting the production of so many products.

Human hypocrisy leaves us in no doubt they will never cure the root causes of the problems we face.

What about God’s Kingdom?

How frequently have Christians repeated the Model Prayer Matthew 6:9-11 – “Our Father in the heavens… Let Your Kingdom come!”

What are they praying for? The fulfilment of Rev 11: 18 – “But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”

  • A time of judgement and cleansing.
  • A time for the dead to be given another chance
  • A time for those who fear god to receive the reward

Jesus gave Christians a command to Teach Others about that Good News of the Kingdom but notice what he also said in Matthew 24:14 “And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

So when we see and hear Christians promote the Good News of Gods Kingdom – dedicate millions of hours to that we know that it is almost upon.

Where should we look in greater detail? The new Bible Study course Enjoy Life Forever is the beginning of a rapid introduction to the Good News About Gods Rulership offering real freedom and hope.

Looking forward to the time when no one will say I am sick

True Peace through Gods Government

End of Prejudice

One of the things Gods Kingdom or government will accomplish is the end of prejudice. We all know how human life is plagued by this on all sorts of levels – racial, social, economic, gender, religious… the list goes on.

What would a government need to do to change individual attitudes to end prejudice?

There are 4 major steps:

  • Motivate people to want to change;
  • Heal the wounds thus ensuring equality is natural;
  • Have leaders that treat everyone fairly;
  • Unify people of all nations.

Only God’s Government Can achieve this!

This is because it can reach the individuals heart. Let’s review:

  1. It can teach people what is right, to be right Isaiah 32:17 says “…the fruitage of true righteousness will be lasting tranquillity and security.”
  2. Only God’s Government can end all of the suffering caused by injustice, Revelation 21: 4 states “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
  3. God’s Government will provide fair and impartial judgement over all of the earth. Notice Isaiah 11: 3, 4 which reports “And he will find delight in the fear of Jehovah. He will not judge by what appears to his eyes, Nor reprove simply according to what his ears hear. 4 He will judge the lowly with fairness, And with uprightness he will give reproof in behalf of the meek ones of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth And put the wicked to death with the breath of his lips.” this refers directly to Jesus role as King of that Government
  4. The Citizens of God’s Kingdom will have real unity, not simply a veneer, it is based on their love for God and love for each other as described at Philippians 2: 2 “make my joy full by being of the same mind and having the same love, being completely united, having the one thought in mind.”

This Government that Jehovah God has promised is going to bring real peace to the earth. To find out more about this government please refer to JW.org (adjust the setting for your language requirements)

Essays On Faith!

20 years ago I began writing for personal reasons a series of Essays linked to Faith, a personal journal of the need for faith and why faith means different things to different people.

I understood that I had a deeply spiritual connection to the world around me and saw majesty in all things. However, I had been taught to question critically belief’s and science.

What is faith?

One dictionary describes it as “strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.”

The Bible describes it as “Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Are these definitions the same?

Clearly no – secular society has judged the person with faith as credulous and gullible, whilst the bible states that it is based on the evidence of things not seen.

Can they both be right. Why to secularists want to profile those with a strong faith as fools? Note the point made in the bible 1 Corinthians 1: 21, “For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not get to know God through its wisdom,” we can expect those who are wise in there own eyes to view everyone else as foolish.

So, for many to say they have a spiritual side is going to be a real challenge because they do not want to appear to be a fool.

Examine some key points

Science requires faith – faith in the judgement and findings of those who have gone before, because if all scientists started at point zero nothing would move forwards.

Yet, history has taught us the science is changing, conclusions drawn by learned persons are later proved to be inaccurate, and some assumptions have been seen to be totally wrong.

So what does this really mean? Well those who put their trust in science have created a base focused on shifting sands that continuously require firming and testing.

How about faith in God? Similarly we are required to test our foundations. Check that what we experience, observe and test are actually grounded in reality.

Conclusion

First, Faith is personal, it is an expression of who we are and really no one has the right to pass judgement.

Second, Science or Spiritual both require trust in those who have gone before.

Third, only arrogant individuals will ridicule those who possess something they don’t understand.

Finally, faith engages with the individual and encourages them to explore and learn so those who don’t have faith or don’t understand are more easily led because they won’t examine things for themselves.

The example that fits – Flat Earth – the bible stated that the earth was a sphere hanging on nothing thousands of years before it became accepted as science. Those with faith believed the earth to be a globe. Those who wanted to control relied on the fact that most people just wouldn’t bother to find out for themselves. Maritime adventurers knew the earth was round and understood the movement of the stars – they experienced the world, but to have power over people the rich restricted education, knowledge and opportunity. The lesson – Test things out for yourself, never settle for what the text book said and remember the person that teaches you or goes before you dies.

Never confuse dogma for fact – evolution is scientific dogma, still theoretical and never provable so don’t get stress explore the foundation and enjoy the journey.

More thoughts on faith to follow in coming weeks
