Peace and Security

This is the cry of Governments setting out their desire for Peace so the rhetoric is right but the actions demonstrate something totally different.

Is this an unusual approach or is it unexpected? The Bible makes it clear that governments put faith in their weapons of war, to the point that they decide to wage war on God’s Kingdom – Psalm 2 is a great introduction to the subject.

Notice how the prophet Jeremiah 6: 14 phrases things about human governments and rulers “And they try to heal the breakdown of my people lightly, saying, ‘There is peace! There is peace!’ When there is no peace.”

Psalm 146: 3 “Do not put your trust in princes Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. 4 His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish.” highlights the futility of even the best-intentioned governments because they change so frequently they achieve nothing.

Jeremiah once again confirmed this when he said in Jeremiah 10: 23 “I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.” Each of us has enough problems directing our own lives. Think about it carefully, are there things and actions that you regret, have you made wrong choices. Rulers and Governments are just the same. Think about it how can you be so certain that the person making the laws and telling you what to believe has your best interests at heart? We all know the answer to that.

Russia, China, and the USA

The prophet Daniel is really clear in his words when he discusses the two opposing pawers at the end of this period of time. One will push to acquire land, riches and control many people and the other will push back but they won’t quite get to war. The reason Mutually Assured Destruction and a Mutual enemy.

They can fight each other but no one would win. All three have a common enemy that they speak of frequently. Russia and China both openly oppose the Kingdom of God and fight against all those who peacefully advocate that kingdom. Throwing them into prison, taking their homes, property and livelihoods because they are described as seditionaries and extremists. The public goes along with that.

With this common enemy, the powers of this world join to attack anything associated with those looking to the Gods Kingdom. All religions are fair game. Think of how King Herod killed all the males under 2 years old in an effort to get rid of Jesus. Collateral damage doesn’t matter. Pharaoh attempted the same with Moses.

The bible clearly points to a time when all political powers band together to attack God’s Kingdom and that event is preceded by the following proclamation at 1 Thessalonians 5: 3 “Whenever it is that they are saying, “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly on them, just like birth pains on a pregnant woman, and they will by no means escape.”

Where can you find real Peace? How can you survive this attack? Does it really matter what side you are on?
