The End of Suffering – Signs of the “Last Days”

When Jesus was on earth he taught us many things about getting the best from life and that when things became desperate not to despair. He explained things would get bad, that those living in the period of the “Last Days” would see wars, hear reports of wars, see famine, pestilence and human suffering on a scale never seen before.

Jesus gave those with faith hope – he told them to raise their heads up because deliverance is near.

Identify the “Last Days”

The Apostle Paul wrote about this time and the key characteristics of people living at that point note his words at 2 Timothy 3: 1 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away

The Apostle is describing people and the prevailing attitudes, being critical times hard to deal with. One translation renders them perilous times, it will be hard to be a Christian.

Faith is being tested

Christians are facing a great challenge to their personal faith. God’s standards don’t change. So our faith must be founded on those same standards and hope.

For example, Adultery is condemned in the Bible, has our association with others who don’t follow bible standards or have any faith meant we feel society has moved on – we have progressed? We can ask the same question about many other points like the use of idols.

So we are challenged by the behaviour of others, the standards of society and we need to find answers to complex questions.

Help is available Read the Bible online, study the Bible and get to know God personally. The last days naturally come to an end, what replaces them? What hope do we have? where can we find more answers? The Articles linked in A Better World is Near answer these questions.
