The world is seeing the unprecedented rejection of God, his standards, the means of communication – the bible and of course his Kingdom.
Jesus taught the Disciples to pray for “God’s Will to be Done” but what is God’s will? 1 Tim 2: 4 “whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth”.
How many Christians actually have an understanding of that accurate knowledge about “God’s Will”? Too few have clear answers to pressing questions, like “why is there so much evil and suffering?” “Why do we die?” “Does God Exist and how can you build faith in something or someone unseen?”.
These questions aren’t that challenging – the bible answers them clearly. For example Does God exist? In Romans chapter 1 verse 20 we are encouraged to look at the material planet around us, the place we live and ask what qualities are evident in the life on earth? The bible doesn’t compel anyone to believe in God or follow his guidance – it is a matter of free will.
Exercising that free will has consequences and this is where Christians have become passive, they fail to explain this simple point. Galatians 6: 7 highlights the principle that is clearly evident in life – what we sow we reap. Sow cabbage seeds we get cabbages, plant fruit trees and they produce fruit not wheat or potato. Humans who fail to gain the accurate knowledge of God and fail to respond to Jesus teaching as Christians are passive!
Therefore the principle “you reap what you sow” a passive Christian does nothing! and, therefore, is not displaying the true Christianity. Why because as we pray for God’s Will to be done we are motivated to action. Note the Bible writer Pauls admonition at Romans 10: 13 “For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah [God’s Name] will be saved.”14 However, how will they call on him if they have not put faith in him? How, in turn, will they put faith in him about whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach?”
Salvation is only possible if Christians act in harmony with this admonition. Jesus told his followers to preach the Good News of Gods established kingdom and demonstrate God’s desire that everyone who wants salvation has the choice. Notice the Apostle Peter a key person known to Christians of all denominations stated at 2 Peter 3: 9 “Jehovah is not slow concerning his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire anyone to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.”
As Active or Proactive Christians we are COMPELLED to ACT NOW!
Right now those who have no knowledge of true Christianity are seeking to enjoy a “Family Christmas” somehow they feel they deserve it because of everything they have sacrificed. Have they asked the question “if I choose to celebrate Christmas this year with my friends and family who am I exposing to a higher risk of COVID 19 infection? Just weeks away from the roll out of a vaccine?” Who will they blame when family members of friends get sick, some may die, others because of the economic impact may lose their employment and homes? The Government? God? or themselves?
This freedom of choice enables many to act selfishly, Jesus never said celebrate my birthday, he only said of his final meal “keep doing this”.
Passive Christians haven’t a clear knowledge of the teachings, or the consequences of their actions, failing to hear and heed bible counsel will lead to the inevitable outcome. Jesus explains it well in Matthew 7: 21 – 28. Not everyone claiming to be a Christian will be saved because their faith isn’t built on accurate knowledge. Because they can’t save themselves everyone who lives around in the same circumstances are destined to be excluded – yes their faith (house) will be destroyed.
Therefore, we must act – Paul stated we are not the sort that shrink back to destruction but we are moved by our faith to advocate God’s Kingdom and his King the one we follow Jesus Christ.
In the parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins Jesus discussed two groups of Christians those waiting for the bridegroom to return and those who slept and let their lamps burn low. While they weren’t paying attention the Bridegroom returned and shut the doors to wedding feast. These are sleeping or Passive Christians.
It isn’t my place to tell anyone if they are Passive or Active but Jesus stated clearly “by their fruits you will know them”.
Based on God’s Will what do you as a Christian understand is the most vital choice we make now! Our lives depend on the choice we make and based on that choice we will be a position to discuss salvation with those we meet.
We will save ourselves and those who listen to us.
Passive Christians are a danger to humanity.
